Sea Tel Inc., part of Cobham plc is the world leader in stabilized marine antenna systems. We produce the most advanced technology in VSAT satellite communications and TV for commercial vessels, oil platforms, and yachts of all sizes. We have an immediate need for a Drafter located at our R & D and Manufacturing facility in Concord CA.
BASIC FUNCTION As a Drafter at Cobham Satcom (Concord office, CA) you will provide drafting support for the engineering department to develop system block diagrams, schematics and wiring diagrams. You will create and maintain BOMs. You will update/create drawings per red-lines. You will assist writing manuals.

• To facilitate Cobham’s system engineering group in documenting various engineering systems with the use of AutoCAD, Visio, and/or similar tools (CAD programs) by generating system block diagrams (SBD), various schematics, and/or wiring diagrams. • Create and maintain detailed BOMs and write ECOs (Agile ERP knowledge plus). • Implement redlines by closely following pilot builds (prototypes). • Provide support on the creation of document packages and other engineering deliverables. • Interface with other engineers and management for project requirements. • Expected to use MS office tools to carry out work in excel, ppt, word, etc. • Expected to be a team player and highly organized. • Must adhere to and support the company’s Safety Health & Environmental (SHE) program. • All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE • Associate Degree from a technical school and a minimum of 3 years of related experience. • Self-starter requires minimum supervision and ability to think system-level design. • Organized and detail-oriented • LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers or regulatory agencies. • MATH ABILITY: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must demonstrate the ability to make sound independent judgment decisions. • TECHNICAL SKILLS: Must have knowledge of basic Electro/Mechanical systems and common symbols used on block diagrams. Knowledge of marine environment and satellite communication systems is plus. • COMPUTER SKILLS: Microsoft Excel, Word, & Outlook – intermediate level required. Minimum 3 years’ experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio. Knowledge of 3D CAD package and Agile is plus. • CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES: None required • EQUIPMENT AND DEVICE OPERATION: Basic machine shop experience, a plus.

The work environment is in an office setting. However, some time will be spent in an open factory environment. On the factory floor the temperature fluctuates relative to the outdoor weather due to large roll up doors in constant use. There is some excessive noise on the production floor. The immediate work area has no caustic chemicals or fumes. No travel is required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing their duties, 25% of the job is performed while standing and 75% while sitting. May be required to stoop, kneel, crouch and reach above shoulder height. Unassisted lifting may be required up to 35 pounds.
