Senior Buyer

Senior Buyer Our Concord team is seeking a strategic and results-driven Senior Buyer to play a crucial role in optimizing our procurement processes and ensuring the seamless supply of materials and components necessary for production. This position is vital for balancing cost, quality, and supply chain efficiency, enabling Cobham Satcom to maintain high standards in our manufacturing operations.

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Buyer to manage the procurement lifecycle, from sourcing and negotiating with suppliers to coordinating logistics and ensuring timely delivery of materials. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, including production planning, quality assurance, and logistics, to support operational excellence and minimize supply chain risks. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, experience with ERP systems (preferably LN6), and a solid understanding of manufacturing environments, along with the ability to work autonomously and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Procurement Management: Oversee the entire procurement process, including requesting quotations, negotiating minimum order quantities (MOQs), and managing purchase orders to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services.
• Supplier Relationship Development: Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, fostering collaboration to enhance quality and delivery performance while addressing any issues that arise.
• Logistics Coordination: Collaborate with the logistics team to schedule inbound material deliveries, ensuring that materials arrive on time to support production schedules and minimize downtime.
• Supplier Performance Evaluation: Conduct regular evaluations of supplier performance against key metrics, including on-time delivery and quality standards, to ensure compliance with company requirements.
• Quality Assurance and Compliance: Communicate with suppliers regarding return merchandise authorizations (RMAs) and non-conformance reports (NCRs), ensuring that quality issues are addressed promptly and effectively.
• Data Management and Reporting: Maintain accurate master data related to pricing, lead times, and inventory levels, while generating comprehensive reports and analyses to inform strategic procurement decisions.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders, including production planning, quality assurance, and engineering teams, streamline purchasing processes and optimize inventory levels.
• Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Identify opportunities for process improvements within the procurement function, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

As our Senior Buyer at Cobham Satcom, your qualifications should ideally be:

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in procurement, supply chain management, or a related field, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong experience with ERP systems, with a preference for SAP. Familiarity with LN6 is a plus but not mandatory.
• Proficient in data analysis and reporting, with advanced Excel skills to manage and analyze procurement data effectively.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating self-motivation and accountability in managing tasks and responsibilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with internal teams and external suppliers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address procurement challenges and optimize supply chain processes.
• Understanding manufacturing operations and supply chain dynamics to effectively support production needs and inventory management.

We offer Salary range: $95,000-115,000 USD depending on experience

This is a full-time position, and the role is based at the Cobham Satcom site in Concord, California. Eligibility requires being either a US Citizen or a Permanent Resident of the US.
